Responsibilities
Tasks
Supervise apprentices and teach them the trade
Inspect and investigate machinery breakdowns to identify malfunctions and failures
Read plans, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
Repair or replace defective parts
Manufacture parts necessary for machine restoration, maintenance or assembly
Test and adjust parts
Adjust and weld metal parts
Analyze technical documents and reports
Maintain control records and prepare inspection reports
Investigate causes of mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
Ensure, using precise measuring instruments, that machined parts meet requirements
Disassemble aircraft cells, engines or other systems for repair, overhaul, cleaning and reassembly
