Responsibilities Tasks Use survey instruments and equipment Participate in field surveys Systematically maintain survey information Keep records up to date Assist with calculation, analysis and study of measurements obtained during surveys Assist in the preparation of drawings, graphics and detailed plans Maintain systematic order of files, measurements and other survey information Analyze latitude, longitude and angles, and perform trigonometric and other calculations necessary for scale mapping of terrain, contour lines and areas Assist surveying engineers and land surveyors in developing survey methods and procedures Conduct surveys and operate instruments and computer equipment to measure distance, angles, elevation and contours Determine precise geographic coordinates using global positioning systems (GPS) Prepare drawings, graphics and detailed plans, as well as survey notes and reports Record measurements and other information obtained during surveys
