Responsibilities Tasks Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions Handle customer complaints and address their concerns Experience in mountain driving Customer service professionalism Load and unload merchandise Drive trucks or articulated combinations to transport goods or materials Monitor vehicle condition and perform inspections of tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment Accept and process payment for merchandise Adjust brakes Perform emergency repairs on the road Inspect trucks before, during and after trips and monitor all aspects of vehicles Perform preventive maintenance Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher Record information on cargo, hours of service, distances traveled and fuel consumption Tarp and ensure cargo safety and security Transport and handle hazardous materials
